Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree from accredited university;
-Valid Texas teaching certificate for appropriate level of assignment;
-Demonstrate proficiency in teaching Science to High School Students;
-One-year experience teaching or completion of approved internship;
-Complete State required fingerprinting and background checks; and
-Positive reference check.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The High School Science Teacher will provide high-school level students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in science to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Specific duties include: Provide high school level students with appropriate learning activities in science. Develop and implement the districts curriculum programs. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed. Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods. Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through the formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Maintain open communication with parents. Focus on professional development to improve job related skills.
